The software company Binary Impact was awarded a grant of EUR 37,146.40 by the jury of the Rhineland-Palatinate media funding in the second award round of the year 2022 in the area of games.
The company thus secures funding for a playable prototype of a “management simulation”. The overall goal is to complete the project and release the finished game in 2023/2024.
„We are very grateful for the jury’s trust in us and our project. Now we are looking forward to the challenges that such an undertaking brings.“, says Jens Wiechering, CEO of Binary Impact.
Medienförderung RLP GmbH is a subsidiary of Medienanstalt Rheinland-Pfalz and is supported by the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, ZDF and SWR. This funding supports creative and innovative media professionals in Rhineland-Palatinate in the field of digital media. In addition to audiovisual works such as documentaries and short films, computer games are also supported.
“Such funding is important to also strengthen the media location Rhineland-Palatinate and keep it competitive,” says Sebastian Pohl, also managing director of Binary Impact.
Development of the prototype will begin in January 2023 and last for three months. In addition to the new development of a 3D game environment, the project also includes the core of an already completed project for a German automobile manufacturer. Thus, this prototype represents a technology transfer from traditional industry to the games sector.
After the prototype has been created, the game will be finalized and implemented with financial support from the federal government’s computer game funding. In the meantime, negotiations are underway with publishers to market the game after completion.
