Binary Impact GmbH from Niederelbert has been awarded a grant of 25,000 euros by the jury of the Rhineland-Palatinate state media funding program in the second funding round of 2024. This will support the company in designing a new computer game with the working title “Forensic Simulator”.
Binary Impact already received funding for “Parking World” last year. This game, which was successfully launched as an Early Access title on Steam on November 11, 2024, shows that Binary Impact is not only able to implement innovative game ideas, but also successfully place them on the market.
The now funded game idea “Forensic Simulator” was developed in the context of a research project in which Binary Impact collaborated with the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) and the state and federal criminal investigation offices in Rhineland-Palatinate. During this research project, the first creative approaches for a game-based implementation of forensic work were discussed.
The “Forensics Simulator” will translate real processes from everyday police work, real criminal cases and forensic methodology into an interactive game format in order to provide a new perspective on the work processes of investigators.
“The renewed funding is a great confirmation of our work. With the ‘Forensic Simulator’, we want to show how serious topics can be translated into an interactive gaming experience. The result is not only an exciting game, but also a valuable contribution to knowledge transfer and career guidance in the field of forensic investigations. ” says Jens Wiechering, Managing Director of Binary Impact.
